YouTube Bullying

After listening to some presentations in class, I wanted to talk about cyber bullying on YouTube. Some people may underestimate the impact it has on YouTube and therefore don't realize the severity of the problem. Whether it is people posting videos of them singing, dancing, or any other personal talent, others may find nasty humor in it and post their feelings about it. A comment can either make or break someone's life, and some people see that and others don't.

I have seen several rude comments posted on certain people's videos; I can not believe what some people say. Comments range from "I can see why they hunt whales" to "EWWWW SHOOT YOURSELF. I'll be honest. YOUR UGLY AND YOUR FAT AND I WANT TO SEE IN THE PAPERS THAT YOU COMITTED SUICIDE." to "Oh My God...are you serious? People like YOU are the reason people commit suicide, you piece of shit. I'd love to meet you in person so that I could kick your ass." How people can say things like that makes me sick.

The video I got those off of is a video of a girl talking about how people copied her channel and are posting rude things to others and she wanted to inform people it isn't her. After posting a simple video, she gets comments like those. How dare anyone say anything like that to someone, let alone someone they do not know. Yes, there are comments from people who are sticking up for her or recognizing her for her own beauty, but there are over 100 pages of comments, about 95% of them being rude.

Or you have the videos showing someone getting the crap beat out of them and people will video tape it thinking its funny. Well, its not funny. The word sick doesn't even describe it; it is so much worse. It's sad to see that fights are posted and people get a thrill out of it. YouTube gives people an oppourtunity to broadcast themselves and psychotic people take advantage of that.

YouTube bullying is everywhere. And I'm not going to lie, after reading comments on videos I sat in my desk chair and just cried. It hurts me to know that people are being talked to and about in such a cruel way. People that say those things don't deserve anything good in life. My whole theory is if you have something bad to say keep it to your damn self. Somehow, technology should advance or commit to deleting comments like that; there is no need for them, and they are dangerous to people and their lives. I wanted to approach this cyber bullying issue, but I honestly have nothing more to say other than if you have something rude to say about someone that posts a video on YouTube, keep it to yourself, and if you don't, I hope karma comes around and bites you in the ass.
